Tacos off the tourism trail

The Pitch highlighted TACO NACO KC in its September 2021 guide to destination-worthy tacos beyond Kansas City’s usual dining routes. Writer Liz Cook visited the original Overland Park taquería and described how Chef Fernanda Reyes and co-founder Brian Goldman grew from catering and farmers-market pop-ups into a busy neighborhood restaurant.

A look at the early Overland Park taquería

The feature focused on the restaurant’s balance of regional Mexican cooking and an approachable neighborhood experience. It called attention to the corn tortillas, cochinita pibil, brisket barbacoa, fresh chips, margaritas and broad salsa selection while also documenting the colorful, welcoming space.

Why the story still matters

The article captured an early moment in TACO NACO KC’s growth and showed the ideas that continue to define the restaurant: chef-led food, Mexican culinary traditions, fresh salsas and a willingness to listen to local guests. Since that review, TACO NACO KC has expanded beyond its first Overland Park location while keeping those foundations at the center of the menu.
