A little love along the way.

What started with catering, pop-ups, and weekends at the farmers’ market has grown into something we’re incredibly proud to call TACO NACO KC. Along the way, our tacos, margaritas, catering, food truck, restaurants, and the people behind them have picked up a little recognition. Awards are pretty cool. But what means the most is knowing that people enjoy what we make and keep inviting us back to the table.

Gracias, Kansas City. This belongs to our whole team.

Johnson County Green Business Program

Environmental Recognition

Johnson County Government · 2024

In 2024, TACO NACO KC was recognized by Johnson County Government and the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment through the Johnson County Green Business Program.

Our restaurants have worked to make sustainability part of everyday operations through efforts including recycling and composting, renewable energy, efficient equipment and lighting, responsible refrigeration, and more sustainable packaging.

We certainly don't have everything figured out. But we believe lots of small decisions can add up to something meaningful.

Better tacos. Less waste. Keep improving.

FROM THE FARMERS’ MARKET TO THE WORLD CUP.

FIFA World Cup 2026

Kansas City FIFA Fan Festival

In 2026, TACO NACO KC was selected among the local restaurants serving at the Kansas City FIFA Fan Festival during the FIFA World Cup.

We started by serving tacos at local markets and festivals.

A few years later, we were serving them while Kansas City welcomed fútbol fans from around the world.

Kansas City made that possible.

Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce

Small Business Superstar

2022 · 2023

TACO NACO KC was recognized by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce as a Small Business Superstar.

We’re proud to be a locally grown Kansas City business, and even prouder of the jobs, partnerships, friendships, and opportunities that have grown alongside it. Because building a restaurant is never just about building a restaurant. It’s about building something people can belong to.

AND THEN THERE'S CHEF.

Chef Fernanda Reyes

TACO NACO KC has always been chef-led.

Behind the tacos, salsas, marinades, specials, and organized chaos of a busy kitchen is Chef and co-founder Fernanda Reyes.

Her story started long before TACO NACO KC—with culinary training, professional kitchens, international competition, travel, and a lifelong connection to Mexican food and culture.

And she brought all of it to Kansas City.

SILVER MEDAL

Culinary World Cup

2010

Chef Fernanda earned a Silver Medal at the Culinary World Cup, competing on an international culinary stage.

BRONZE MEDAL

IKA Culinary Olympics

2008

Chef Fernanda earned a Bronze Medal at the IKA Culinary Olympics, one of the world's established international culinary competitions.

And years later, her role in culinary competition came full circle.

OFFICIAL JUDGE

Grill Master H-E-B

Sociedad Mexicana de Parrilleros

Chef Fernanda was selected to serve as an official judge for Grill Master H-E-B, the major Latin American grilling championship organized with the Sociedad Mexicana de Parrilleros.

As part of its specialized judging committee, she joined culinary and grilling professionals responsible for evaluating competitors across flavor, texture, cooking technique, and presentation under standardized competition criteria. It represents a different kind of recognition, not being asked to compete, but being trusted to judge the competition.

From competitor to judge to chef-owner.

International medals are something to be proud of. So is being trusted to evaluate the work of other culinary professionals. But ask Chef Fernanda what matters and the answer eventually comes back to the same place: the food. That philosophy continues to shape what comes out of TACO NACO KC kitchens every day.
