Philosophy of Service
Our job at TACO NACO KC is to serve. Our roots are embedded in Community. That is why we believe in serving our communities by supporting causes we believe in with hopes to leave the world better than when we arrived. Through our support of local farmers and small businesses, educational workshops, team member scholarships, and frequent contributions to local and regional non-profits of meaningful causes, we are pushing towards a brighter and better future for all.
Supporting local
farmers and businesses
We take pride in our grassroots approach to starting a business, and we want to encourage others to grow as we did. That’s why we continue to support local community markets and collaborate often with local farmers and artisans. We are proud to help encourage small business owners to grow, so we have started select mentorship programs with local small businesses and mom-and-pop start-ups like ours. By supporting our fellow local businesses, we can grow together as a community and as a society for a brighter future.
Encouraging Education
Education is often the key to a brighter future in all communities. From culinary workshops to cultural presentations, we find ways to partner with local organizations and institutions to encourage education among all ages.

Promoting healthy lifestyles
We have partnered with the Latino Medical Student Association at the KU School of Medicine to fundraise for JUNTOS, a local organization that works to reduce health disparities within Latino communities in the state of Kansas and the Kansas City Metropolitan area and promote healthy lifestyles through research, education & service. Every year, we host a series of events to build awareness and contribute to the cause.
Fighting Hunger
For millions of people, a nourishing meal is a critical need. That’s why we support local, regional and national food banks to build awareness and contribute in feeding those in need through food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters and other community-based agencies. Through local members of the Feeding America Network like Harvesters, we have taken a stance against hunger with awareness events and annual contributions.
Harvesters
Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. We also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition. Harvesters is a certified member of Feeding America.
Rebuilding hope
Steps of Faith Foundation
Steps of Faith is a nonprofit public charity dedicated to providing prosthetic care, hope, and comfort to amputees needing financial support by helping uninsured and underinsured amputees get the prosthetic limbs they need.
International Rescue Committee
The International Rescue Committee is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development nongovernmental organization. Founded in 1933 as the International Relief Association, at the request of Albert Einstein, and changing its name in 1942 after amalgamating with the similar Emergency Rescue Committee, the IRC provides emergency aid and long-term assistance to refugees and those displaced by war, persecution, or natural disaster.
Spreading joy
Money raised through Red Nose Day goes into the Red Nose Day Fund and is issued as grants to support a range of programs delivered by trusted grantee partners working across the US and around the world.
In the US alone, around 12 million children – that’s nearly 1 in 6 – live in poverty. Globally, about 663 million children are deprived of one or more basic needs, like food, shelter, safe drinking water, sanitation, healthcare or education.
Red Nose Day supports programs that address both the immediate needs of children in poverty while fostering long-term change. Funds raised are split 50/50 between the United States and some of the poorest communities around the world.
Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Its goal and mission is to “deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens.”
